30 Days of Thankfulness {Days 19-30}

Posted on December 1st, 2011 by Elaine

Day 19: I am thankful for walks on the beach.

Day 20: I am thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know my cousin’s wife while they were here.

Day 21: I am thankful for Motrin to keep Little Bug’s fever down.

Day 22: I am thankful for warm, fuzzy socks.

Day 23: I am thankful that today is the first day this week I don’t feel like I am operating from survival mode.

Day 24: As silly as this may seem, I am thankful for that family photo you see below. Every time I look at it I bust out in laughter. It reminds me that laughing through trying circumstances goes a long way. I am thankful for laughter. (I was referring to this photo.)

Day 25: I’m thankful for Dave’s sense of humor. He can always make me laugh!

Day 26: I am thankful for 8 hours of consecutive sleep last night!! (Before you think Sweet Pea slept that long it was because my mom had her and let me sleep!)

Day 27: I am thankful for a fun day with my family of four buying a real Christmas Tree (our first!) and decorating it tonight with our two precious girls!

Day 28: I am thankful for naptime. ;)

Day 29: I am thankful for Skype which allows me to talk to family members that don’t live near by. I got to see my cousin on Skype and wish her a very happy 18th birthday!

Day 30: I am thankful that God loves me even though I am a sinner. I am thankful He sent His Son to redeem me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

30 Days of Thankfulness {Days 5-11}

Day 5: I’m thankful for lazy Saturdays with my family…sleeping in (thanks to my wonderful hubby, Dave), playing/reading with my girls, naptime and then a trip to [where my in-laws live].

Day 6: I am thankful that Wesley is going to be able to be home for a couple days around Thanksgiving!!

Day 7: I am thankful that I am able to be at home with my girls. There is no other job I’d rather have.

Day 8: I am thankful for friends. If riches were measured in friendships I’d be one the richest in the world. I have friends from childhood who have grown up with me and have "done life" with me. I have close friends from every stage of my life. And most recently, God has blessed me with new friends that are also adoptive mothers. I am thankful for each and every friendship and how each has blessed and enhanced my life tremendously.

Day 9: Today I am thankful for adoption and that, in the eyes of the court, Sweet Pea is now officially and forever our daughter. Adoption is such a beautiful picture of God’s love for His children. I am thankful God’s Plan included growing our family through the miracle of adoption.

Day 10: I am thankful for my childhood. When I think of my "growing up years" I only have very fond memories. I am thankful God placed me in the Anderson family and that He gave me parents who trained me in the ways of the Lord. I am thankful for the childhood memories I carry with me.

Day 11: I’m thankful for all the servicemen and women who sacrifice so much for my freedom.

30 Days of Thankfulness {Days 1-4}

Posted on November 4th, 2011 by Elaine

I’m participating in “30 Days of Thankfulness” on facebook this month. Every day I am posting something I am thankful for in my status.

There is so much to be thankful for.

On Fridays, I will post what I wrote on facebook here.

Day 1: I am thankful for God’s faithfulness from generation to generation.

Day 2: I’m thankful for Dave, who woke up at 5am when he heard me trying to quickly make a bottle and came in there and said, "I forgot to make bottles last night!! Sorry!!" and then proceeded to make about a dozen bottles before he went back to bed. He is such a supportive husband and an incredible daddy to our daughters. I thank God for bringing him into my life (via my brother!) almost 6 years ago. And yes, he makes all Sweet Pea’s bottles for the next day every night before he goes to bed. He is always trying to find small ways to make my days a little bit easier. :)

Day 3: I am thankful for my little girl, Little Bug. She is more than I ever imagined a daughter could be. I am thankful God chose her to be my daughter!!

Day 4: I am thankful for my baby girl, Sweet Pea. Even though she came sooner than we had planned, God, once again, had a perfect plan in place. Sweet Pea’s adoption process taught me that GOD IS IN CONTROL of everything and His plan prevails no matter what I do or don’t do. I am thankful God saw fit to add Sweet Pea to our family. Three years ago, I never dreamed I’d be the mother of two little girls within the span of just 26 months. But that was GOD’S PLAN and His plan prevailed and I am so very thankful for this sweet baby girl who smiles through her tummy troubles on a daily basis.
